Sad Realities of Violence

I just read http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/25/world/asia/25phils.html?src=mv and not sure what to think. After murdering dozens of people in cold blood, Suwaib Upham was himself murdered, presumably by the others involved in the murder who had fired alongside him in Mindanao.  Does he die as a hero because he was going to testify against the others, or has he got what was coming to him for participating in those gruesome murders?
