Growing Watermelons in the Philippines: A Large-Scale Operation

I just ran across this story about watermelon production in the Phlippines.

Wu Yulien, a Taiwanese, who is renting that 250 hectares from the 6,000-hcctare Hacienda Luisita. He grows nothing but watermelons, mainly for export.

I love watermelons! I dont' know whether I'd be so interested in a 250-acre farm, but I could be happy eating a small watermelon each day. We did successfully grow some watermelons in Negros Oriental in our garden last year.

By the way, that website Agribusiness Week has many fabulous articles about gardening and large-scale agriculture in the Philippines. Check it out!
